We purchased a home in the woods a couple of years ago. It was a 'real fixer upper' but we have slowly transformed it to a beautiful retreat that we enjoy on the weekends. The last major upgrade that has been weighing on me has been replacing the existing aluminum windows in the main living area which is located on the second floor. The views into the woods are wonderful but the current windows obstructed the view, did not open enough for ventilation, and were not energy efficient (westward facing windows in the Gulf South!).
Because of the dark wood interior and exterior, we chose Milgard WoodClad Ultra because it was one of the only suppliers of fiberglass windows with dark brown sashes inside and out. We selected the Milgard Ultra 3310U picture window for the middle 8' long x 4' high window and flanked with with 2, 3510U, 4' x 3' Casement Windows with interior screens.
The heat reduction from the new windows was immediately noticeable in the middle of our hot summer. The entire room has come alive with unobstructed views of the outdoors. Recently when the weather got cooler, we opened the casement windows fully and got a wonderful breeze through the house with 2 fully opened windows.
We will definitely consider Milgard WoodClad Ultra for our future window replacement needs!
