re-modeling a 1980 home
Cathedral ceiling arched window and sliding door below
We replaced 5 original sliding glass doors and a large arched cathedral-celing window in our 1980-built Spanish-style home in the Coachella Valley desert. The new Milgard double-paned windows and doors have made our home quieter and the neighbors, with similar style/size homes, are jealous of our utility bills because our home stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter with less use of the hvac system. We don't even need window coverings on the east-facing side of the house and the windows are not additionally tinted, so we have all the daylight and none of the heat coming through the glass. The sliders are easy to operate, seal out dust and look so much better than the original doors. We are very pleased. We've used Milgard double-paned window products in other homes that have needed replacement windows and have always been pleased with the results. If we have a need for doors or windows again, we'll definitely use Milgard.
